avengers

Have you ever watched The Avengers? A lot of my formative years were spent watching reruns of old tv classics. My sister and I absolutely fawned over The Avengers.

Only recently did I realize that the beloved Miss Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) was not the original female co-star. Honor Blackman played Dr. Cathy Gale, the stiff compatriot to John Steed. Hmmmm.....then Miss Blackman left to star as Pussy Galore in GOLDFINGER!! Then there was Emma Peel.

Well I watched 3 episodes from the Best of Collection and the sets and fashions did not disappoint.

Here is Miss Emma Peel's door with peephole from "Death At Bargain Prices"

It reminds me of that kick-ass eye mask that Holly Golightly wears in Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Equally exciting was this outfit Dr. Cathy Gale wears in "Don't Look Behind You".

Pencil skirt, striped shirt with tie detail...and the clincher was the hanging gold belt. So severe - soooooo good!

Yesterday, I just bought a book on Charlotte Perrinand's work - I think I'm back to being in love with 1940s-1960s design.

happy charlotte!

tonight....los amigos invisibles

Just in case it's Friday night and you realize that you've got a new pair of dancing shoes and no place to break them in.....

Los Amigos Invisibles are playing at S.O.B.s

If only I had more energy.
If only I'd checked my email yesterday and planned accordingly.
If only they were playing Saturday night.
If only I was 10 years younger, I'd totally be a groupie.

Alas, I have seen them live approx. 7 times and they DO NOT DISAPPOINT.

Check 'em out: Los Amigos Invisibles

stop and smell....

Well, there are plenty of things you can smell in New York City, but Uma chooses flowers.

Smart dog!

sweet esposo

My sweet husband turned 30 this year. I like 'em young...that whippersnapper! I was born 6 years before him, but he is most mature beyond his 3 decades of life on this planet. There are so many things that I love about him - he is perfect for me.

We had a great birthday party for him last month (while I was on blog hiatus). Cousin Nepreil helped me design these kick ass invitations.

invitation sans our personal info

We had so much fun and I was just downloading the pictures and thought: Wow, we have some great people in our lives! Thanks so much to all of our beloved family and our fantastic friends that came to celebrate sweet Fernando's birthday.

ode to ikea

Last week Bob, Samantha** and I went on quite the excursion. Can you say hello Ikea? We met at Pier 11, right off Wall Street and boarded the yellow barge - destination Ikea. As a New Yorker, maybe I don't go on vacation nearly enough - maybe that can explain why I was sooo excited to be on this free ferry - it felt like a beach trip.

My tip? Climb up the stairs to the top deck - it's rocky, but you'll have the best view of Ellis Island, the Waterfalls, Lady Liberty and IKEA!

We had the best time; Robert bought us breakfast and we treated him to a post Ikea hot dog (all food purchased totaled $10.00). Bottom line: it was so much fun and it's 1000 times better than Elizabeth, NJ.

Lovely Samantha at the Ikea

Bob at the Ikea - check out that snazzy hat

**Since I haven't been updating the blog, you may not know about Samantha. Here's the sweet and low: 1) She's an artist that is ridiculously talented - her card reads "Hand Sewn Illustration" but she does so much more http://www.samanthajsmith.com 2) She volunteers at Bowne & Co. 3) She is so much fun and I love it when all 3 of us are together.

now that was a hiatus

Whew....I didn't update my Flickr, Etsy or Blog in ages!! But, I'm back. Here's to weekly updates!
